Maxthon browser cannot save configuration without admin rights

Maxthon (http://www.maxthon.com), a browser based on IE6 writes all its configuration data in form of ini-files into c:\program files\maxthon\config. When running, a small message box pops up about every five seconds stating "Error can not save config". The Maxthon support forum recommends giving all users full access to the maxthon folder (sic!). This might work, but doesn't solve the problem that all users share the same settings.
