We had another great
webcast this week - thanks to everyone for attending. There's only one more left in the series - if you've got any interest in Windows Mobile gaming I hope to see you there
next week.
As we always do, here's some follow up information..
This code includes basic SqlCeResult extensions and network connectivity change detection.
This program provides several examples of extending the SqlCeResultSet along with code for using the extensions.
Understanding SQL Mobile TableDirect Mode
A big part of understanding how to work effectively with and extend the generated Typed SqlCeResultSet is understanding the different ways one can access a SQL Mobile database, most significantly the various TableDirect options.
If your not familiar with these topics, you might want to check out
SQL Server CE and Scalability. Although the title says SQL Server CE, it all applies equally to SQL Mobile with the exception of the discussion of compacting. The compacting discussion no longer applies because most of the problems with SQL Server CE and the frequent need for compacting have been resolved in SQL Mobile.
For those attending MEDC, here's the list of MEDC hands-on labs that relate to what we talked about:
- HOL302 - Developing an SQL Mobile Application with Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005
- HOL401 - Porting ADOCE/CEDB to EDB/SQL Mobile
And the MEDC sessions that relate:
- Pre-conference Workshop - Application Development For Windows Mobile
- APP332 - Building Scalable Data Replication Models
- APP333 - Right-Sizing - Choosing the Best Data Storage Approach for Your Mobile Application
- APP334 - Migrating CEDB/ADOCE to Windows Mobile 5.0
- APP431 - SQL Server CE and SQL Mobile Performance Tuning, Deployment, And Scalability
- APP435 - Dive into SqlCeResultSet and High Performance Data Access with SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition
- APP450 - Centralizing Data Synchronization
