I'm a bit uncertain of where to begin on this my first post at a new blog home. It seems the best thing to do is just to give a brief introduction of myself and where I'm heading with my newly invigorated blog.

Like most enterprise developers my work involves working with lots of different technologies across both clients and servers. That said, the one area where I find I am most interested is work related to smart clients. So smart client related topics is where most of my upcoming posts will focus.

Smart Client is a pretty broad term but I tend to think of it as applications that take advantage of just-enough connectivity. Sometimes this will be truelly mobile applications providing local caching of data. In other cases, they may be desktop apps with full network connectivity drawing content from a variety of Web Services and data sources. Smart client applications provide users with a quality experience within the confines of application demand and currently available resources.

Smart clients involve many different devices including Pocket PCs, SmartPhones, Tablets as well as traditional laptops and desktops. They also involve many different software technologies such as .NET, .NET Compact Framework, WSE and Office just to name a few.

So please stay tuned and we'll see where this takes us.

P.S. If you're curious about my background feel free to checkout my resume/CV

Hi Jim... you probably don't remember me. I'm with IBM and took your Compact Framework class at Developmentor a couple of years ago.

Anyway... I saw your name in the list of Blogs and thought I would say Hello. Look forward to your blogs!!
