Feeding the hardware monkey

Like a lot of people in our industry, I have a certain acquisitiveness with hardware -- I do like new toys every now and then.  I'll admit that compared with many of the people I know, it isn't very high.  I don' t need to upgrade my home machine very often.  For that matter, I have _a_ home machine for myself.

But every now and then, new hardware is just, well, needed.  In the last six months I've gotten two new bits of hardware that I really like.

For my personal use, I bought a Samsung color laserprinter.  I really like it.  The print quality has been very good, I've not had any problems with it, and the price was surprisingly low.  I'd really missed having production quality printing.  I just wish the prices had been like this when I had my own company...

For work, my laptop expired and it was time to renew.  I've just started using an Acer Ferrari 3400.  I love the speed, the clarity and responsiveness of the screen (and its 64 bit, which is a nice extra bonus).  My only two 'complaints' are that the cover looks so shiny that I take better care of it than any prior laptop, and its a bit heavier than the one it replaced.

I guess these will hold me for a few more months ;)
